Swim

Swim starts and finishes at the boat ramp in the southwest quadrant of Oceanside Harbor and goes in a counter-clockwise direction. The course is one loop and begins by paralleling the west side dock, angles left toward the mouth of the harbor, and turns around where it meets the Boat Basin entrance. The course follows the same layout as it returns. Transition 1 is located in the parking lot that starts at the boat ramp and goes north.

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
Due to the heightened security in and around Camp Pendleton Base in Oceanside, no pre-riding of the course will be allowed. Also, on race day, no spectators will be allowed on base, only athletes and race support vehicles. We understand that many athletes prefer to preview a bike course, but please understand that we are very fortunate to be able to use Camp Pendleton for the bike portion of the Ford Ironman 70.3 California and ask that you respect the wishes of the base both prior to, and during, race day.

IMPORTANT BIKE COURSE NOTIFICATION
There will be a NO PASSING / NO SPEEDING zone on the first long descent on Basilone Road (approx 39 to 40 miles into the bike course). The speed limit on this dangerous descent will be 25 miles per hour.
ANY RIDER SEEN PASSING OR DEEMED TO BE RIDING TOO FAST OR OUT OF CONTROL WILL BE DISQUALIFIED - NO EXCEPTIONS.
This descent will be well marked with blinking lights and signs. Volunteers will be shouting verbal reminders.
- Exit transition traveling South on North Pacific Street
- Turn Left (East) on S. Harbor Drive
- S. Harbor Dr. turns North & crosses Harbor Dr. to enter Camp Pendleton at the Del Mar gate on Santa Fe Avenue
- Continue North on Santa Fe Avenue to B
- Turn Right (North) B Street
- Turn Right (East) on Harbor Rd.
- Turn Right (South) on A Street / Wire Mountain
- Turn Left (North) on Vandegrift Blvd
- Turn Left on road behind Comissary
- Turn Left on Vandegrift
- Turn Left (North) on Stuart Mesa
- Turn Right (East) on Las Pulgas Road and proceed ~2-miles to turn around.
- Proceed West on Las Pulgas to the exit of Camp Pendleton at the Las Pulgas Gate.
- Turn Right (North) on Old Pacific Coast Hwy.
- Proceed North on Old Pacific Coast Hwy. through San Onofre State Park
- Bear Left (North) onto Trestles Bike Path
- Turn Right (East) on Christianitos Road
- Enter Camp Pendleton and turn Right (South) on San Mateo Road
- Turn Left(South) on Basilone Road
- Turn Right (West) on Vandegrift Blvd.
- Turn Right on road behind Comissary
- Turn Right on Vandegrift Blvd.
- Turn Right on Wire Mountain Road
- Turn Left on Harbor
- Turn Left on B
- Turn Left on Santa Fe Avenue to exit of Camp Pendleton at Del Mar Gate
- Cross Harbor Drive on to Harbor Drive South
- Turn Right on North Pacific Street and proceed North to transition area.

- Exit Transition Area traveling South on North Pacific Street
- Turn Right (West) on Sand road on South side of River
- Follow Sand Road South around North Coast Village Condos to the Strand
- Turn Right (South) on The Strand
- Turn Left (East) on Wisconsin
- Turn Right (South) on South Pacific Street
- Turn Left (East) at Eaton Street
- Turn around on Eaton Street
- Turn right on South Pacific and proceed North on South Pacific Street
- Turn Left at Wisconsin Street
- Turn Right (North) on The Strand
- Turn Left (West) at Breakwater Way onto Sand road and follow around to North Pacific Street
- Turn Left (North) on North Pacific Street
- Turn Around on North Pacific Street just before South Harbor Drive Repeat course a 2nd time then
- Proceed North across South Harbor Drive to the finish line (.2-miles North of South Harbor Drive on North Pacific Street).
